Western Maine has an abundance of outdoor activities for all seasons. Nearby Umbagog Lake and the National Wildlife Refuge are beautiful with lots of recreation options. Western Maine's lakes and rivers for water sports, boating, fishing kayaking, and relaxing are world renowned for their beauty and clarity. Upton House is very close to snow machine and ATV UTV trails.  Alpine and cross-country skiing are nearby at Sunday River, family-friendly Black Mountain, and Carter's X-C Skiing. Hiking is everywhere and Grafton Notch State Park is just down the road, as is 13-mile Woods. Within an hour or so are the White Mountains Presidential Range, and Rangeley Lakes Region. The quaint towns of Errol, and Bethel are close by for shopping and dining. Bethel is a local foodie paradise! And there are many scenic byways to drive nearby.
